General presentation
The demand for electronics systems more performant and complex has grown significantly in recent decades. Based on CMOS technology, the electronics industry has responded to this demand through a continuous increase in integration density.
The devices are now at the nanometer scale and approaching the physical limits. This miniaturization (in CMOS or alternative technologies) could jeopardize an economic model that has been considered fondamental for the electronics industry during several decades.
New problems appear or known problems have new (more important) impact. Some of these are components characteristics dispersion, reliability issues, time propagation and synchronization, energy consumption control, manufacturing costs
control, control the compliance of complex systems, etc.
The NanoElec team aims to provide solutions to these problems.
